There is a choice of a lawn bowling or ten pin bowling in Paphos.

The club was formed in 2003 and now has an 80 strong menbership with a growing waiting list so it is seriously contemplating enlarging its membership.

In the first year, the bowling club played 36 matches against teams from the UK, winning 29, losing 5 and drawing 2. As approximately 60% of its members had not played bowls before coming to Cyprus, it says a lot about the level of help and understanding offered by the more experienced members, not to mention some excellent coaching by Jim Allison.

On 10 April 2004 an Open Day was arranged between the Captains’ Teams and the Presidents’ Teams (the President is Mr Christos Zorpas, also Operations Manager for Louis Phaethon Hotel). Both he and the newly elected Captain Mick Haylor started off the day with 50 members taking part, each playing 4 matches. At the end the best team from each side met in the final with the Captains’ Team running out the victors.

The social event in May was a Sportpersons’ Evening at the Crazy Spoon Tavern and June sees a four week bowling tour to South Africa for 28 members, playing Capetown and Durban.
